Ft. Walton Beach

All the kids are back in school so it's a good time of year for us to be away from Joe's office. We have planned a few trips this month. (We had an extra trip due to Gustav!) anyway, last weekend we went and stayed with Papa Jon and Grandma Deb. We had a wonderful time at the beach. Our friends the Moore's (Joe's high school buddy and family) came too. Thanks soooo much to Papa Jon and Grandma Deb for a wonderful place to stay and all the free babysitting.

After Gustav and Ike

We made it home from evacuating Gustav and stopped by my parent's house to check out the damage. It was a mess. They were out of power for 9 days! Poor Baton Rouge really was a disaster area. Gas lines were 6 hrs long and it was really, really hot. Thankfully, most people that I know have power now. This is my parent's backyard. It's mostly cleaned up now after many hot sweaty hours. Our house was fine and actually never lost power. It's one of those weird things. You never know who will be fine until after the storm. We were very greatful to have power and get back to normal (we had to get ready for Ike! ha ha). Evacuating was great until it took us 14 hrs to get home. Anyway, we made it and everyone's fine now. Pray hurricane season will end soon!

Here are some pics of AK in Missouri while we wait out Gustav. She had a ball with her Memmie, Papa, and Grandmamma. We are very greatful that our house is fine. We will be heading back to Louisiana early tomorrow.

Gustav

We have evacuated for hurricane Gustav to Missouri to be with Joe's family. We boarded up our house and left Saturday to avoid the traffic jams. We will update this when we can! Everyone is safe and hopefully our house is too. AK doesn't seem to notice anything at all!! I'll post pics once we get back to Louisiana.
